LED lighting: how much you really save
A 60W incandescent bulb can be replaced with a 9W LED giving the same light. That's roughly 85% less consumption per fixture.
In a home with 15 bulbs on for about 5 hours a day, switching everything to LED pays for itself in just a few months from what you save on the bill.
How to choose: look at lumens (the amount of light), not watts. For a room, 800 lm per bulb is usually enough. Color temperature matters too: warm (2700K) for rest areas, cool (6000K) for kitchens and workspaces.
LEDs also last between 15,000 and 25,000 hours — years without replacing a single bulb.
